Terms of use of VAP Lab
Legitimate Users
- Facilities in the Virtual Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory are for the exclusive use of students and staff in Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University only.
General Rules
- Teaching is the first priority in the booking and use of the laboratory.
- The laboratory will be opened from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday only.
- Use of facilities in the laboratory by individuals is on a first-come-first-served basis.
- Hardware and software other than those installed in the laboratory may not be used.
- Users should observe the instructions / guidelines on the proper use of facilities in the laboratory as displayed or as advised by the designated responsible staff.
Responsibilities of Users
All users have the responsibilities to:
- Avoid causing disturbance to other users in the laboratory.
- Keep the laboratory clean and tidy.
- Use the facilities for legitimate approved purposes only.
- Report suspected virus attacks on computer systems to the designated responsible staff.
- Leave the laboratory at the closing time, or as otherwise requested by the designated responsible staff.
Safety and Security
For safety and security reasons:
- All users should enter the laboratory using their student/staff ID unless otherwise directed by the designated responsible staff.
- The laboratory is under 24-hour CCTV surveillance.
- Laboratory users must strictly follows the Health and Safety Guidelines and Laboratory Safety as stipulated by the Health, Environmental and Safety Office, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
- In case of accident or injury, report immediately to laboratory Staff (Tel: 34003982 / 34003971) or contact Security Office by phone 27667666 / 27667999 (24 hours)
- Laboratory users may be requested by the designated responsible staff to show the contents of their bags, cases, personal belongings etc. at the exit or at any time inside the campus.
- The laboratory may, from time to time, revise the regulations regarding admission to and the use of facilities in the Computer Centre.
Caution: Users are expected Not to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any computer systems in the University or elsewhere.
- Alter, delete, or copy any licensed software on the equipment in the laboratory.
- Take away computers, computer stationery, computer accessories, furniture, or blank computer papers etc. from the laboratory.
- Move or relocate any furniture, equipment, manuals or other properties in the laboratory without permission.
- Deface or damage in any way any furniture, equipment, manuals or other properties in the laboratory.
- Smoke, eat, drink, shout, sing or play in the laboratory.
- Abuse the privilege of using the computing facilities for non-coursework purposes such as playing computer games.
- Wear rain-coats or boiler-suits in the laboratory or any clothing likely to soil the facilities in the laboratory.
- Personal property should not be left unattended anywhere in the laboratory. In case of dispute, the Dean of Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University or his designated representative has absolute discretion in allocating seats to users concerned. Unattended belongings may be removed and PolyU will not be responsible for any loss or damage of personal property.
- Violate any other rules or regulations applied in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
*** Infringement of any of the above regulations may lead to demand for immediate departure from the laboratory and notification to Dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University for appropriate action.
